The McCall Ultra Sled Dog Challenge is a volunteer effort from beginning to end. This sled dog race would not be possible without hard work of volunteers. They are vital to race operations, office administration and fundraising. We look forward to your joining our incredible volunteer team.

When you volunteer with the McCall Ultra Sled Dog Challenge, you'll have an up-close-and-personal opportunity to play a supporting role in this incredible partnership between dogs and mushers.

We have listed many volunteer jobs and their descriptions into small, manageable units to make them attractive and satisfying to a large cross-section of people.

Volunteers with a can-do attitude and ready for on the job training are encouraged. Don't let lack of experience stand in your way. We all learned on the job. We encourage you to take on a little bit at first and expand where your interests take you.

Positions needed throughout the year include event planning, office assistance, fundraising, pamphlet making, media outreach, equipment procurement and repair, and public relations.

Pre-race preparation includes inventory checking, cleaning, transportation, trail maintenance, checkpoint set-ups, office set-ups, copying, musher packets, communications, merchandise, trophies, billeting, and banquet planning.

During the race, positions include many of those noted for pre-race plus dog handlers, office assistants, road guards, communication aides, drivers, and crews for the trail, checkpoints, start/finish area, veterinarian checks and the awards banquet.

Volunteers,
  • Would you like to either chair a committee or assist others?
  • Are you available to assist with race planning in advance of the race?
  • How much time can you commit? Weekend only or weekday?
  • Take a look at all the opportunities available and consider volunteering your time and support for this exciting new event.
